Basics on the topic Consonant Letter Sounds

Let's learn and practice consonant letter sounds with Dee and Kala!

Transcript Consonant Letter Sounds

It’s recess and Dee and Kala are so excited to play hopscotch today! However, the court looks a bit different than what they are used to. Instead of a number, each box is filled with a letter. In order to play, they will need to throw the rock and hop to the box it lands in while saying the letter sound. Let's help Dee and Kala by learning their "Consonant Letter Sounds"! In order to learn to read and write, we must know our letters! This means learning the names and sounds of every one! The Alphabet has two kinds of letters: vowels and consonants. The vowels are a, e, i, o, and u. All the other letters are called consonants. In this video, we'll identify consonants and their sounds. We can use special keywords to help us remember the main sound each letter makes. Say them along with us as we go! B, bird , /b/. C, cake, /k/. D, door, /d/. F, fish, /f/. G, gum, /g/. H, hot, /h/ .J, jam, /j/. K, key, /k/. L, leg, /l/. M, moon, /m/. N, net, /n/. P, pot, /p/. Q, quilt, /qu/. R, road, /r/. S, sock, /s/. T, tape, /t/. V, van, /v/. W, web, /w/. X, box, /ks/. Y, yak, /y/. Z, zip, /z/. Now that we've practiced all of our consonants, we can help Dee and Kala! Dee throws the rock on the court and it lands here. Get ready to say the letter names and sounds as Dee hops! M, moon, /m/. D, door, /d/. B, bird, /b/. Great job, Dee! Now it's Kala's turn! She throws the rock on her court and it lands here. Get ready to say the letter names and sounds! C, cake, /k/. K, key, /k/. H, hot, /h/. As the bell rings, let's remember! Today we practiced naming our consonant letters and their sounds! We can use keywords to help us remember the sounds each consonant makes. We can practice these often to help us learn to read and write. “B, bird, /b/; C, cake, /k/; D, door, /d/." "Wow, that dream seemed so real!"
