Transcript -nd Ending Blends
One spring morning, Dee wanders into the kitchen and realizes he has forgotten a very important date, Kala’s birthday! He needs to find a present for her before she wakes up! Luckily he has a project saved just in case. There's just one problem though, he's not sure what all of the words in the instructions are! We can help him by learning about N D ending blends'. You might already know that consonants are letters that aren’t vowels, and you might also know about blends, when you mix things together. But, did you know that you can blend letters? When you blend two consonants together, you hear the sounds that each letter makes. When figuring out blends with the letters N D; always start with the letters N D and the sounds they make. Then, identify or figure out the sound the next letter makes. After that, blend the sound the letters make with the N D sound to figure out the blend! Finally, touch each letter to say the sound it makes, then swipe your finger across the letters and repeat the blend! The letters S, E, N, D make the word ‘send’. Let's take a look at Dee's first word. Remember, first start with the letters N and D and the sounds that they make. The letter N makes the /n/ sound, and the letter D makes the /D/ sound. Next, we need to make the sounds of the first two letters. The first letter is
which makes the /P/ sound. After that is the letter O which makes the /O/ sound. Finally, we need to put all of the sounds together to figure out the blend! What do the letters P, O, N, D make? They make the word ‘pond’. Next, Dee finds this word, but isn't sure how to read it. Remember, first start with the letters N and D and the sounds that they make. Then, make the sounds the first two letters make. Finally, swipe your finger across the word to make the new blend. What do the letters B, E, N and D make? They make the word ‘bend’! Dee is almost done with his gift, but needs help with one last word. If his word is made up of the letters H, A, N, and D, what blend does it make? This is the word ‘hand’! While Dee wraps his gift, let's remember. Today we learned about N D ending blends. When figuring out consonant blends with the letters N D; You always start with the letters N D, and the sounds they make. Next, identify or figure out the sound the first letters make. Then, blend the sounds the letters make with the N D sound. Finally, touch each letter and say the sound it makes, then swipe your finger across the letters and repeat the blend! And Kala's birthday? It looks like it was quite the success!
